Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Virtual therapy in Oregon and California
When your brain won’t stop overthinking everything.
You replay conversations. You second-guess decisions. You think about what could go wrong before anything has even happened.
And even when part of you knows you’re overthinking, it doesn’t necessarily make the thoughts stop.
That’s where CBT can help.
Together, we start noticing the thought patterns that tend to show up when you’re anxious, overwhelmed, hard on yourself, or expecting the worst.
Not so you can force yourself to “think positive.”
But so you can get better at recognizing when your thoughts are actually helpful—and when your brain might be telling you a story that isn’t entirely true.
What exactly is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and how each can influence the others.
Getting out of the thought spiral
Maybe you make one small mistake at work and immediately think:
I screwed this up. They’re going to realize I have no idea what I’m doing.
Or someone seems a little distant and suddenly you’re replaying your last three conversations trying to figure out what you did wrong.
Or you say yes to something you absolutely do not have time for because saying no somehow feels worse.
These patterns can become so automatic that you barely notice them anymore.
CBT helps us slow that process down.
We’ll get curious about the thoughts underneath your anxiety, challenge the ones that aren’t serving you, and practice responding to yourself and the situations around you differently.
The goal isn’t to never have an anxious thought again.
Your brain is going to worry sometimes. You’re going to overthink things. You’re going to have days when your inner critic is particularly loud.
The goal is for those thoughts to have less control over what you do and how you feel.
Over time, you can learn to notice the spiral sooner, trust yourself more, and respond to what’s actually happening instead of every worst-case scenario your brain comes up with.
A little less time stuck in your head.
A little more space to actually live your life.
